Today I challenge you to open the door to emotional awareness for your children and express yourself with deep emotion words. Mental health has become a huge topic over the last few years and with great reason. We are suffering, our children are suffering. We, now more than ever, need to realize that closing ourselves off to the way that we feel is breeding this disconnection within ourselves, our families, and our relationships.
Teaching our children from an early age to talk about the full range of emotions is a healthy way to help them connect to their own experiences. Sharing with your children the way that you feel and reassuring them that your feelings are not their fault and that you just need space is a beautiful way to help them understand that emotions are normal and don’t need to be hidden. Emotional intelligence is a powerful tool that has the power to create a new world of love and compassion for ourselves and the ones around us. I hope you start to bring emotion words into your vocabulary today. Google “List of Feelings” and dive into them for yourself. Learn the range of emotion any person can experience and start calling them out within yourself.
I hope this helps anyone struggling with a teen that has a hard time opening up, a child in a temper tantrum, or a parent longing to connect with their children on a deeper level.
We’ve got this!
With Love, Light, and Blessings
